Uwharrie Point sits on the edge of the 5,300-acre Badin Lake in Montgomery County. The Old North State Club's award-winning Tom Fazio course battles Pinehurst II for top billing in North Carolina. Residents have easy access to the Uwharrie National Forest and the Uwharrie Mountains, which border the property.

Golf

Old North State Club's Tom Fazio course has just been named the "Best Golfing Experience" in the state by North Carolina magazine. It was also declared the best private course in North Carolina. Its 17th and 18th holes have been picked as the top par-3 and par-5 holes in the state, respectively, by the same publication.

Seventeen begins with tee chutes nestled in the hardwoods near the shore. Of the 223 yards between tee and green, about 78 yards cross a cove created by the lake on the left.

The fairway is very open on the 18th. A hill in the right of the fairway feeds miss hit balls into the fairway. Don't go left off the tee or you'll be soaked. The second shot on the par 5 stares at a guarded green with bunkers and water on the left and water behind the green. Birdies and rare eagles are common on this finishing hole.

Fazio was given free reign to locate fairways without regard to future homesites. This 7,102 yard layout—which crosses water 10 times—has hosted the Atlantic Coast Conference golf championship and the North Carolina Amateur.

Real Estate

Single-family homesites, _-acre–4-acre estates. Golf & lakeview sites, $100,000+; lakefront, $250,000+; estate, $300,000+; 1 acre lake and golf homesites on the course start at $175,000 for golf and $375,000 for lake view.

Single-family homes feature 3-4 bedrooms with large front porches, private courtyards and open, airy floorplans. Its newest neighborhood of Waterton features single-family homes and townhomes in the historic Charleston neighborhood style.

Patterson's Bridge homesites are located along the fourth fairway of the golf course.

Other real estate opportunities here include single-family homesites, ranging in size from a half-acre to four-acre estates.

There are three new neighborhoods as well: Printer's Lane and Flint Ridge Trail features one-acre homesites near the southeastern tip of the peninsula. Stonebridge Drive and Moss Bank Ct. parallel the 15th fairway and represent the last one acre homesites to overlook The Old North State Club golf course.
